Description
The Morphy Richards 172022 Compact Espresso Coffee Machine brings traditional barista-style coffee making into the home in a slim, stylish stainless steel design. With a powerful 15-bar pressure pump, integrated steam wand and the ability to brew one or two espresso shots at once, it gives you the tools to prepare everything from a simple espresso to cappuccinos, lattes and americanos.
The 15-bar pump provides the pressure required to extract flavour and aroma from ground coffee, helping produce a rich espresso with a satisfying crema. Unlike fully automatic machines, this traditional pump espresso machine gives you hands-on control over preparing your coffee, making it a great choice for anyone who enjoys the process of creating café-style drinks at home.
Both single and double filter baskets are included, allowing you to prepare one espresso or brew two cups simultaneously. The machine is primarily designed for ground coffee, so you can choose your preferred coffee and grind to tailor the flavour to your taste.
It can also be used with ESE coffee pods when fitted with the appropriate optional ESE filter, giving you an additional convenient brewing option. The ESE filter is sold separately.
For milk-based drinks, an integrated steam wand lets you manually steam and froth milk to create cappuccinos, lattes, flat whites and other café favourites. Variable steam control gives you greater control over the frothing process, while the wand can also dispense hot water for drinks such as americanos.
A removable 1-litre transparent water tank makes it easy to see when a refill is required. The tank can be lifted away from the machine for convenient filling and cleaning, while the removable drip tray simplifies everyday maintenance.
LED illuminated buttons provide clear, straightforward operation and indicate when the machine is ready to brew or steam. A cup-warming area on top of the machine can also be used to gently warm espresso cups before brewing.
Despite its comprehensive coffee-making capabilities, the 172022 has a particularly narrow footprint. At only 13.8cm wide, it is an excellent option for smaller kitchens, apartments or dedicated coffee stations where worktop space is at a premium.
Overheating and overpressure protection are incorporated for additional safety, while an automatic descaling reminder helps you keep on top of routine maintenance. Regular descaling is particularly important in hard-water areas and helps maintain water flow, steam performance and coffee quality over time.
Finished in stainless steel, the Morphy Richards 172022 combines a professional coffee-machine appearance with a compact format that is easy to accommodate in the home. With 15-bar extraction, dual-cup brewing and manual milk frothing, it provides an accessible way to experiment with genuine espresso-based coffee without moving to a much larger automatic machine.
