Description
The Dimplex Southbank is a premium freestanding electric stove that combines the character and proportions of a traditional stove with Dimplex's highly customisable Optiflame 3D flame technology. With up to 2kW of supplementary heat, three interchangeable fuel-bed styles and remote control, it creates an impressive fireplace focal point without requiring a chimney, flue or solid fuel.
Optiflame 3D gives the Southbank considerably more visual depth than a basic electric flame effect. LED lighting creates the appearance of flames rising through and behind the fuel bed, while adjustable flame brightness allows you to tailor the intensity to suit the room and time of day.
For further customisation, the Southbank offers a choice of warm orange flames or an additional blue flame effect. Integrated downlighting illuminates the fuel bed from above, adding another layer of depth and helping create a more convincing fire display.
Three different fuel-bed materials are supplied with the stove. Realistic logs provide a traditional wood-burning appearance, crystals create a more contemporary look, while black vermiculite provides another distinctive option. The fuel bed can therefore be styled to complement either a classic or modern interior.
The flame effect operates independently of the heater, allowing the Southbank to remain an attractive focal point throughout the year. During warmer months, you can enjoy the flame and lighting effects without producing additional room heat.
When warmth is required, the integrated fan heater offers two selectable heat settings of approximately 1kW and 2kW. An electronic thermostat helps maintain the selected room temperature rather than requiring the heater to run continuously.
An 8-hour run-back timer provides additional convenience, allowing the heater to operate for a selected period before automatically switching off.
The supplied remote control provides convenient access to the stove's functions from across the room. Manual controls are also discreetly positioned behind the Southbank's opening front door. The functional door adds to the authentic stove appearance while keeping the controls neatly concealed.
As a freestanding electric stove, installation is straightforward. There is no need for a working chimney or flue, and the 1.8-metre power cable provides useful flexibility when positioning the stove near a suitable mains socket.
Finished in classic black and standing 680mm high, the Southbank has the substantial appearance of a traditional stove while requiring none of the fuel storage, ash removal or chimney maintenance associated with a real wood or solid-fuel stove.
