The Dimplex Scala 22 Inch Optiflame Electric Fire combines a wide contemporary fireplace design with realistic flame effects and convenient electric heating. Finished in Brushed Chrome, its broad 22-inch fascia creates considerably more visual impact than a conventional 16-inch inset fire while retaining the practicality of installation into a standard fireplace arrangement.
One of the Scala 22's most useful design features is its ability to provide a wider fireplace appearance without requiring an unusually large recess. Despite its 22-inch frontage, the fire is designed to work with a standard 16-inch fireplace back-panel opening, making it particularly attractive when upgrading an existing fireplace.
Dimplex's Optiflame technology creates a realistic animated flame effect above an illuminated log-effect fuel bed. The flame appearance can be customised with multiple flame colour themes and adjustable brightness, allowing you to choose anything from a warm traditional glow to a more contemporary display.
Integrated ambient downlighting adds further depth to the fuel bed and helps create a more immersive fireplace effect.
The flame effect operates independently of the heater, allowing the Scala to remain an attractive focal point throughout the year. During warmer weather, the Optiflame display can therefore be enjoyed without producing additional room heat.
When warmth is required, the integrated fan heater provides two selectable heat settings with a maximum marketed output of 2kW. Electronic thermostatic room-temperature control helps regulate heating to maintain a comfortable temperature rather than simply operating continuously at maximum output.
An 8-hour timer provides additional control and allows the fire to switch off automatically after a selected period.
The Scala can be operated from the supplied remote control, allowing flame, lighting and heating settings to be adjusted comfortably from across the room. Manual controls are also conveniently positioned on the fire itself.
Although primarily designed for inset installation, the Scala 22 can also be used where a suitable fireplace recess isn't available. Dimplex's optional OSP010 spacer kit allows the fire to sit against a suitable flat wall or within a surround without requiring its full depth to be recessed.
With its substantial 22-inch frontage, Brushed Chrome finish, customisable Optiflame display and thermostatically controlled heating, the Dimplex Scala SCA22CH provides an excellent way to give an existing fireplace a wider and more contemporary appearance without the complexity of a gas or solid-fuel installation.
